Mission Statement

Mission Statement: The Ocean Grove Citizenís Patrol is a vibrant volunteer organization with an active membership of men and women from the community. These volunteers are willing to patrol the streets and avenues of Ocean Grove, render traffic assistance for parades and special events in "the Grove" and be additional eyes and ears for the Neptune Township Police Department. Each patrol member is a link in an exceptionally strong chain encompassing our one square mile community. Our mission is to help make this unique, historic district of Ocean Grove a safe and secure place for our residents and visitors.

The Ocean Grove Citizenís Patrol was organized on December 1, 1990 with twelve original members. Our mission then, as it is now, is "to help the Police Department make our community a better and safer place to live."

Today, we have over one hundred members who are screened and trained by the Neptune Township Police Department. We have the distinction of being the largest active Citizenís Patrol in the State of New Jersey. The OGCP patrols the streets of Ocean Grove EVERY night of the year. Two shifts of men and women volunteering their time and energy, in all kinds of weather, have made a significant contribution to the safety of Ocean Grove.

Initial funding for OGCP was through the Ocean Grove Concerned Citizens and the Jessen-Lind Fund. However, for the past 18 years, an Annual Fund Drive, generously supported by our community, has allowed us to continue to operate.
